Part III – The Four Knots

Rope can be very simple or incredibly complex.  There are a lot of ways to tie a rope to get the desired results but to get started you really only need to know these four basic knots.  Once you’ve learned these and can tie them without thought or hesitation the only thing left is experimenting with where you want the rope and what you want it to do to your submissive.

Square Knot – used for connecting two end pieces of rope quickly (finishing a binding)

Bowline – used to make a loop in the end of a rope that does not slip or constrict ( making quick wrist cuffs)

Prusik – used to bind your sub to a distant pole or object while also working great as a winch take out slack in the rope and stretch your sub

Figure Eight or Double Overhand – good for quickly finishing the end of a rope to keep it from slipping through another knot attatching a rope to a “D-ring”
